The invention discloses a system for cutting off traction converters. The system comprises a signal receiving device, a signal response device and N signal generators, wherein the N signal generators are in a one-to-one correspondence relationship with the N traction converters and N is a positive integer; the signal generators are arranged in a cab of a locomotive and used for receiving a trigger signal of a driver and a conductor and converting the trigger signal into a remote control signal for cutting off the traction converters; the signal receiving device is used for receiving the remote control signal; the signal response device is used for cutting off the corresponding traction converter after the signal receiving device receives the remote control signal; cutoff ends of the traction converters are provided with mechanical devices, the traction converters are disconnected by the signal response device through controlling the mechanical devices, and thus the traction converters are cut off. By applying the system, the traction converters can be cut off under the condition that the driver and the conductor do not get off the locomotive, the workload is reduced and the cost is lowered.
