Alkali Metal Thermal to Electric Converter (AMTEC) cells are being developed for high performance spacecraft power system, including small systems power by the General Purpose Heat Sources (GPHS). The design of liquid-vapor AMTEC cell has been reported by Sievers et al. (l992). The design idea of multi-tube vapor-vapor AMTEC cells has been discussed by Joe Ivanenok III (1994). However, the analysis of design parameters has not been presented. Previously, such an analysis is provided in this paper. TK Solver is used to analyze the sodium flow, heat transfer and power output. The reasonable design parameters are selected: cell length 0.1016 m(4''), electrode length 0.0127 m(0.5''), feedthrough length 0.0722 m (2.843''), wire diameter 0.0006 m(0.0253''), cell wall thickness 0.0001 m (0.004'') and no heat shields. Cell efficiency is 19.8%, and cell power output is 6.044 W. This cell design is fit for the Pluto Express power system requirements.
