To maintain optimum efficiency, the MACHAR subsea production manifold requires frequent pigging operations to remove the wax deposits. To meet this, an innovative subsea multiple pig launcher was designed to enable single line subsea pigging operations to be carried out as an integral part of the pipeline maintenance program. The design is based on optimizing CAPEX/OPEX costs, utilizing conventional surface vessels for deployment and the provision of a reliable, fail safe, remotely-operated vehicle pig launch mechanism. Most significantly, the design provides a reliable, cost-effective, long-term pigging facility for subsea operations based on simple operation and minimum intervention times.
