This paper focuses the state of technology and the problems still to solve in application of systems to cut down exhaust particulate. In particular various types of traps are described, filtration efficiencies are compared, problems of regeneration are introduced and various systems to obtain it are revised. Finally some information on biological effects of exhaust emissions and on typical durability of filtration systems is given.
