An overview is given of the electronics in the 1989 models from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. Leading the developments are head-up displays, speed-dependent suspension damping, an adaptive transaxle, a user-friendly CRT display, and fast defrosting. On- and offboard diagnostic systems to aid the mechanic have been introduced by Chrysler Motors.
