Information systems for urban transportation using a personal computer
The electric tramcar networks in the metropolitan area is becoming more complicated and diversified. In July, 1981, the Transportation Policy Council made recommendations that the system to provide information of optimized routes should be completed in order to prevent time and financial loss for the users of complicated public transportation services and to promote utilization of such urban transportation systems. Using personal computers, the authors developed the real time information system to search and provide transfer information of the least time loss for all transportation means including the Shinkansen Line and airline services by specifying the place to go and time of departure.
