This paper presents soil-trip rollover simulations using a simplified pickup truck model over a geomaterial surface, whose characteristics are determined using a new calibration method with an improved uniaxial strain compression test. Parameters of MAT-005 in LS-DYNA were determined based on soil test results. A Finite Element (FE) soil model was developed and the results predicted by the FE model were compared with experimental data favourably. Using the three calibrated geomaterial models and the pickup truck model, additional computational studies of soil/tyre interaction demonstrate that the MAT-005 material model has a robust performance in large strain under dynamic loading conditions.
