Starting from postulated requirements for fully automatic road transportation, a system comprising of 3 components is proposed, a central guidance system, a sensor network monitoring cooperative and non-cooperative road users as well as random obstacles, providing also precision navigation, and a sensor system monitoring road conditions and traction parameters. The proposed system can be implemented in compatibility with driver controlled conventional transportation. Chapter headings: system requirement; system outline; requirements for radar sensors; radar sensor arrangement; proposed radar configuration and arrangement; transmitter power; use of in-vehicle equipment; compatible system implementation. Figures are mere sketches of system layout and sensor arrangements.
