The topical problem of rolling stock electric machines windings moistened insulation-drying modes and processes investigation is studied. The factors rendering essential negative influence on the electric durability of windings insulation are given, and primary goals for its reliability are determined. Both physical and chemical processes occurring in solid bodies, i.e. in windings of poles, armature, cables, and on their surfaces directly exposed to the excited environment influence are described. New alternative principles/methods, ways and means to dry moistened insulation of the traction electric motor based on usage of a latitude-discontinuous control of electrocalorific installation with descending level of power capacity for each subsequent cycle of moisture evaporation from the traction electric machines windings insulation are offered. Discontinuous principles of the moistened insulation drying control not only allow for obtaining effect from the energy saving, but also provide high quality indicators at using various drying methods.
