The texture and crystallographic orientation of the grains that form the hot-rolled ferritic and low carbon content HSLA steels directly influence the anisotropy of the mechanical properties, ductility and toughness of the products destined for the production of tinplate, automotive sheet, and IF steels of quality EDDQ. The texture also affects the same properties of hot-rolled strips for structural applications (shipbuilding plates, pressure vessels, piping, etc.). Practical cases demonstrating this are presented in the present paper.
