This paper proposes a novel traction control system (TCS) for a series configured Hybrid Electrical Vehicle (HEV) with four separate wheel drives. The aim of this control is to improve the handling and stability of HEV during cornering or under slippery road conditions by an accurate and quick control of the torque distribution, important to improve stability and dynamic performances of vehicle. To achieve effective performances during traction and regenerating braking a correlation of TCS with performances of vehicle motors and power management is realized. Several simulations are presented in order to assess the potential of such a system.
