The publication provides an overview of the main drivers for clean, sustainable and renewable energy systems including technology development and implementation. Main actions or commitments which support the introduction of hydrogen as a vehicle fuel in Europe and North America are addressed. The solutions which hydrogen as a sustainable vehicle fuel can provide are discussed: superior tank-to-wheel efficiency, potential for zero emission well-to-wheel capabilities, maximum flexibility with respect to energy sources and transitory strategies, and multitude of possible players and opportunities. Finally, first concepts and activities on the implementation of hydrogen refueling infrastructure are outlined. A table on existing hydrogen refueling station (project)s completes the publication.
