Electrical steels are applied to some kinds of functional automotive electrical components such as an electrical power steering and a fuel pump. Kawasaki Steel has developed a new electrical steel suitable for the newly developed alternator, which improves the efficiency and the output power. The developed material can attain superiority in both the magnetic properties, namely higher flux density and lower iron losses in a high-frequency range, and the workability for helical winding process. A grain oriented electrical steel with high flux density, suitable for the compactness of direct ignition cores, is also described. (VDEh)
