Due to limited resources, the development of new techniques is required to achieve sustainable mobility. Hybrid vehicles could be an intermediate step for that. The control of hybrids is to be seen as a new degree of freedom for vehicle engineers. Intelligent control strategies have to be focussed on both the minimum of energy consumption and the maximum of driveability. Only in this way will new techniques come into markets and be accepted by customers. A method is introduced to find out optimized control strategies for hybrids. In particular, we discuss, as an example, its influence of several parameters on energy consumption and driveability.
