The two flight units of esro-1 - renamed aurorae and boreas after launch - were tested at estec in the hbf 2 and hbf 3 space chambers. During these tests, residual-gas measurements were made with the aid of a veeco ga4 mass spectrometer. the outgassing rate of the spacecraft and the composition of the residual gas were studied as a function of test duration and as a function of satellite attitude with respect to solar radiation.
