The paper presents the results of investigation of heat pipes used for thermostabilization of permafrost. Liquid ammonia and alcohol-water mixture were used as working fluids. The lengths of the heat pipes were 1.88 and 6.0 m. The finns were manufactured of aluminium and copper. Three designs of heat pipes were tested with various modifications of the evaporator, namely, a thermosiphon, a heat pipe with a capillary-porous wick, a heat pipe with a screw. The results on the dependence of the transferred heat fluxes and temperature drops along the pipe on the horizontal slopes are given.
