Delayed cracking is a continuing problem in ship steel weldments. However, with proper precautions, this type of cracking can be prevented. This document presents, in a simplified and condensed form, the causes of delayed cracking and the necessary preventive procedures. It is intended that this document will be used by shipyard personnel that do not have a technical background. This detailed technical explanations are avoided.
