This system, developed under the guidance of the Tokyu Corporation, achieves automation of bus-service control including scheduling and spacing of buses, improving passenger services, and automation of bus terminal operations. The system centers on a Melcom 70 Model 30 minicomputer and a MELCOM 80 Model 20 office computer. It offers such important improvements over the earlier system as bus on-board hardware for display of driving instructions and software for generating predictive algorithms related to driving. The article outlines the system's functions and other parameters.
