Ocean waves are modeled in wave basins to quantify their effect on all kinds of ships and offshore structures. This modeling requires the consideration of various phenomena such as the non-linear character of real ocean waves, wave groups and short-crestedness. These aspects are described in this paper and their complex problems are highlighted by examples.
