The towing operations safety is directly related to the correct choice of the required number and tugs towing forces for mooring operations. To solve this problem, a simulation technology for mooring/unmooring various types of vessels to the berths of the port, as well as entering vessels in a dry dock, is proposed. The technology was created on the basis of the simulation modelling theory, practical recommendations on the use of tugs in the port and the technique developed by the authors to determine the required number and tugs towing forces for doing mooring operations. To display the results, a program for the trajectory representation of the solution on a chart of the earth's surface has been developed, which makes it possible to determine the position of the bulk carrier and tugs at each moment of their movement in the water area, both in metric measurement and in geographic coordinates. The developed methodology for modelling mooring operations to port berths allows solving complex problems associated with determining the optimal location of port berths and choosing the necessary number and characteristics of tugs for mooring operations to these berths.
