This chapter presents the various measuring principles for acceleration and their technical implementation. The special features of the measuring principles, including signal conditioning in the accelerometer, are described. Special emphasis is placed on piezoelectric accelerometers and the basic principles of the selection and application of accelerometers are explained using these as an example.
