The report examines economic development, motorist service aspects, and land use controls of highway interchange areas. Data collected by the Alabama Highway Department on 157 Interstate highway interchanges using aerial photography and field visits to describe land use changes between 1964 and 1970 in the interchange area (one-half mile along each approach route to the interchange) are analyzed.
