Estimates are provided of the major direct and indirect energy inputs to the common forms of air transport. The basis of the calculations include fuel consumption, vehicle construction, maintenance and repairs, and air port facilities. Results are given for commercial cargo airplanes, commercial passenger airplanes, pivate light aircraft, rotary-wing aircraft, and ligher-than-air craft.
