The patent application relates to a submersible platform with a ballast system which includes an elongated tank which is mounted to the platform with the longitudinal axis of the tank extending vertically. The tank has a plurality of ports vertically spaced from one another, and each port is capable of receiving a closure means. With this arrangement selected ports can be closed with the closure means to establish a desired lift force as determined by the amount of air trapped in the tank above the bottommost open port.
