The objective of this study was to determine the crashworthiness and aggressivity of passenger cars, light trucks and vans (LTVs) in traffic collisions. The data for the analysis was taken from the NHTSA Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and the General Estimates System (GES) data for calendar years 1991 through 1994. For this study, the crashworthiness of a vehicle was defined to be the facility risk to occupants of that vehicle. The aggressivity of a vehicle was defined to be the fatality risk to occupants of the other vehicle involved in the collision.
