This report presents the results of an engineering evaluation of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's No. 12 Orange Line rapid transit cars, accomplished at the Transportation Test Center, Pueblo, Colorado. The test program was carried out from February through April, 1981. The scope of the program included vehicle performance, ride quality, acoustic transmissibility and absorptivity tests, and an evaluation of the squeal properties of several brake shoe types. Wherever appropriate, test data were compared to the vehicle specifications criteria; ride quality data were compared to International Organization for Standardization (IOS) guidelines for ride comfort.
