Tests of both manual and automatic seat belt equipped Chevrolet Chevettes and VW Rabbits have been conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The report reviews the test data and attempts to explain the reason for the difference in performance of the two (manual and automatic) seat belt systems.
