The CAPACY model was designed to emulate manual capacity calculations for railroad classification yards. The output from this simulation model can help in planning railroad classification yards. By running this program with different traffic level inputs and analyzing the simulation output, one can estimate the type ad size of classification yard need. The profile simulation program was written to help in designing a hump yard. Optium hump yard grades and retarder placements can be extracted from the outputs of this simulation program. The movement of railroad cars over different hump yard designs can be discovered before implementation. This simulation program is a preliminary version and may be changed subsequent to utilization. Contacting the transportation System center regarding the current status of the program is recommended...Software Description: The program is written in the Fortran programming Language for implementation on a DEC System-10 computer using the TOPS-10 operating system. 80K bytes of core storage are required to operate the model.
