This research article illustrates the approximation of linearized higher order (HO) bio-ethanol distillation controller and its investigation. In the distillation of bio-ethanol, pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process is employed. To control the overall distillation i.e. PSA process of bio-ethanol, controller is utilized. This controller is of HO, generally. In this work, approximation of bio-ethanol HO controller (BEHOC) is proposed by exploiting time moments (TMs) of BEHOC system. The Markov parameters (MPs) of BEHOC system are also utilized in this approximation. The proposed bio-ethanol reduced order controller (BEROC) for BEHOC is ascertained by minimizing the errors between MPs and TMs of BEHOC and its BEROC. For these error minimization, resultant fitness function (RFF) is constructed which is minimized by grey-wolf optimizer. The proposed BEROC is obtained by ensuring steady-state matching (SSM) constraint and Hurwitz stability criterion (HSC). The BEROC efficacy, suitability and effectiveness for BEHOC is presented with the help of responses and tabular analysis.
