The automobile has been changed to an intelligent digital vehicle. Information services provided to such a vehicle over wireless communication networks are referred to as automotive telematics. In this paper, we describe a turn-by-turn navigation system for automotive telematics terminals. Our turn-by-turn navigation system has several unique features such as embedding its own digital map, supporting both local calculation of routes and reception of routes calculated at a designated center, supporting local detour path finding instead of recalculating another route at the center, generating maneuvers beforehand, displaying turn arrows over simplified road shapes, and filling a turn arrow according to a vehicle's positions.
