This paper reports on the military airborne surveillance system (MASS). The TCAS 2000 MASS provides a TCAS II solution for military aircraft. In addition to providing standard TCAS II features, the MASS provides additional situational awareness to aide information flight and rendezvous operations. The TCAS 2000 MASS incorporates methods of reducing the RF interference associated with standard TCAS II systems, thus eliminating the need for formation size or flight restrictions in civil airspace. MASS block diagram is also presented.
