In this paper, an overview of electric vehicles is discussed. Electric vehicles are going to be the next step in transportation evolution. A study of the basic components of Electric vehicles is covered in this paper. This section covers the essential components of an electric vehicle, namely the motor, battery, and power electronics devices. Furthermore, it provides an overview of the typical specifications of batteries and motors commonly used in electric vehicles. This paper also includes the Indian scenario of electric vehicles, with categorized specifications of new car models from different companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Morris Garages. From the very first Indian EV, the Mahindra Reva, launched in June 2001, to the recent Mahindra XUV 400 in September 2022, several EVs have been launched by Indian automobile companies. This paper discusses a comparative study of successful projects in the Indian EV sector.
