The incorporation of complex emission control technologies automotives have resulted in the need to re-training/training of automotive technicians. In the case of Trinidad and Tobago, a developing nation, where a significant number of automotive technicians were trained through an apprentice system, there is a present and definite need for training programs that can accommodate the different learning styles and differing backgrounds. This paper presents the development and testing of such a system. Results obtained to date are positive, showing that for learners of different backgrounds there are comparable performances, while for those of different learning styles, there are significant differences in their performances.
