The hoist comprises: an operation information acquisition unit which acquires operation information pertaining to the motor; and a status inference unit which infers the status of the hoist on the basis of operation information that has been acquired by the operation information acquisition unit and a status inference formula that has been trained so as to be able to infer the status of the hoist, wherein the status inference formula is constituted by a common inference part which is independent of the model of hoist and model-specific inference parts which differ from one model of hoist to another.
