The invention relates to a drive device for a handling trolley, comprising: a chassis (8); a wheel carrier (12); a drive wheel (5); a steering motor (20) for rotating the wheel carrier (12) relative to the chassis (8); a reduction gear connecting the steering motor (20) to the wheel carrier (12), the reduction gear comprising a planetary gear set (60) including an internal sun gear (72), at least one planet gear (92), and a planet carrier on which the planet gear (92) is mounted, a ring gear (78) surrounding the internal sun gear (72) and the planet gear (92). The shaft (69) of the steering motor (20) is fixed relative to the internal sun gear (72), the wheel carrier (12) is fixed relative to either the planet carrier or the ring gear (78), and the chassis (8) is fixed relative to the other one of said two components.
