The present invention relates to a rack thrust prediction method including: a first estimator designing step of estimating rack thrust in response to an operation of a drivers steering wheel by using steering torque, motor-assist torque, a motor speed, and a steering angle; a second estimator designing step of estimating the rack thrust in response to an operation of the drivers steering wheel by using lateral acceleration, yaw rates, and vehicle speeds; an estimator selection step of selecting an estimator corresponding to a predetermined operating condition among the first estimator and the second estimator; and a rack thrust calculation step of calculating the rack thrust by compensating weight based on the operating condition onto the rack thrust predicted by the selected estimator.

    본 발명은 조향토크, 모터 어시스트 토크, 모터 속도, 조향각을 이용하여 운전자 조향 휠 조작에 따른 랙추력을 예측하는 제1추정기 설계 단계와 횡가속도, 요레이트, 차량 속도를 이용하여 운전자 조향 휠 조작에 따른 랙추력을 예측하는 제2추정기 설계 단계와 상기 제1추정기 및 상기 제2추정기 중 기설정된 운전 조건에 해당하는 추정기가 선택되도록 하는 추정기 선택 단계 및 상기 선택된 추정기에서 예측된 랙추력에 상기 운전 조건에 따른 가중치를 보상하여 랙추력을 산출하는 랙추력 산출 단계를 포함한다.
