The present invention provides a method for controlling an electric water pump at multiple stages. The method for controlling an electric water pump at multiple stages is invented by considering influence of a flow speed (LPM) of a coolant on a heat emission property due to driving of an electric water pump when a driving motor and an inverter including a semiconductor switching element are cooled by the coolant. The method for controlling an electric water pump at multiple stages can accurately estimate a heat resistance rate change of the semiconductor switching element in accordance with the change of the flow speed (LPM) of the coolant and a junction temperature change rate in accordance with the heat resistance rate change using an accurate heat model. So, the method for controlling an electric water pump at multiple stages can maximize fuel efficiency effect by minimizing driving power by controlling the electric water pump at the multiple stages. The method for controlling an electric water pump at multiple stages can guarantee durability life and can prevent overheat of an inverter power module including the semiconductor switching element.
본 발명은 반도체 스위칭 소자를 포함하는 인버터를 비롯하여 주행용 구동모터 등을 냉각수를 이용하여 냉각할 때, 전동식 워터펌프의 구동에 따른 냉각수의 유속(LPM)이 방열특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 점을 고려하여 안출한 것으로서, 정확한 열모델을 활용하여 냉각수 유속(LPM) 변동에 따른 반도체 스위칭 소자의 열저항값 변동 및 이 변동에 따른 정션온도 변화량를 정확하게 예측할 수 있도록 함으로써, 전동식 워터펌프의 다단 제어를 통한 구동파워 최소화가 가능하여 연비효과를 극대화시킴과 동시에 반도체 스위칭 소자를 포함하는 인버터 파워모듈의 과온 방지 및 내구수명을 보장할 수 있는 전동식 워터펌프 다단 제어 방법을 제공하고자 한 것이다.
