To solve the problem of incapability of accurately estimating a motor's temperature using only the motor's temperature rise value calculated from a current value and a rotational frequency of a main motor.SOLUTION: A motor temperature estimation method has a power conversion device for converting power from an overhead wire, a motor to be driven using power supplied from the power conversion device, a current sensor for detecting motor current flowing through the motor, a rotational frequency sensor for detecting a rotational frequency of the motor, and an ambient temperature sensor for detecting an ambient temperature. The motor temperature estimation method calculates a temperature of the motor on the basis of the motor current detected by the current sensor, the rotational frequency detected by the rotational frequency sensor, and the ambient temperature detected by the ambient temperature sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
