To provide an occupant protection device which appropriately expands an airbag according to collision speed, thereby protecting an occupant in accordance with a situation.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device 101 calculates collision speed by detecting collision prediction of a vehicle 1, and determines the size of an upper airbag body 112 at the time of expansion in order to move a seat 10 in accordance with the size at the time of expansion. Further, at this time, a leg lower airbag body 132 is expanded and the legs of an occupant P are lifted in order to decrease frictional force of an underfloor 3 and the occupant P. Then, the upper airbag body 112 is expanded to be large, and additionally a knee airbag body 122 is expanded to a lower part of the upper airbag body 112 in order to assist the upper airbag body 112, and thereby, a large airbag can be expanded according to the collision speed and reaction force of the large airbag can be secured, so that the occupant P is properly protected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】衝突速度に応じた適切なエアバッグの展開を行い、状況に応じた乗員保護を行うことができる乗員保護装置を提供する。【解決手段】乗員保護装置101は、車両1の衝突予測の検知により衝突速度を算出し、上体エアバッグ袋体112の展開時の大きさを決定して、この展開時の大きさに応じて、座席シート10を移動させる。また、このとき、脚下エアバッグ袋体132を展開させて乗員Pの脚部を上昇させてアンダーフロア3と乗員Pとの摩擦力を軽減する。そして、上体エアバッグ袋体112を大きく展開させるとともに、上体エアバッグ袋体112の下部に、ニーエアバッグ袋体122を展開させて、上体エアバッグ袋体112の補助を行うようにすることにより、衝突速度に応じて大きなエアバッグを展開させるとともに、この大きなエアバッグの反力も確実に取ることができ、乗員Pを適切に保護することができる。【選択図】図3
