To provide a long pillar reinforcement member having a closed cross-sectional structure in which a joined part is a flange part, the pillar reinforcement member being designed such that, during application of collision load, the flange part is moved toward the collision load application side by use of the load, thereby hindering tensile stress of the flange part, resulting from flexure deformation during the collision.SOLUTION: A long pillar reinforcement member 1 is a closed cross-sectional structure in which a pillar outer part 11 and a pillar inner part 12, both of which are made of a steel plate, are joined one upon another with a space 16 between them, this joined part is joined such that flange parts 13 formed so as to extend to both outsides of the space 16 are joined one upon another, and the closed cross-sectional structure and the flange part 13 extend in a longitudinal direction. In a portion defining a space 16 in the pillar inner part 12 and in a portion adjacent to both the flange parts 13, a pair of projections 14 formed to project into the space 16 are formed. Both the projections 14 are formed along an internal wall surface of the pillar outer part 11 and along the longitudinal direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】接合部がフランジ部とされた閉断面構造を備えた長尺のピラー補強部材において、衝突荷重負荷時、その荷重を利用してフランジ部を衝突荷重負荷側に移動させることにある。それにより、衝突時の曲げ変形に伴うフランジ部の引張応力を抑制する。【解決手段】共に鋼板製のピラーアウタ11とピラーインナ12とを両者間に空間16を挟んで互いに重ね合わせて接合して閉断面構造とされ、且つ該接合部は、空間16の両外側に延びるように形成されたフランジ部13を互いに重ね合わせて接合されており、閉断面構造及びフランジ部13が長手方向に延びる長尺のピラー補強部材1であって、ピラーインナ12の空間16を形成する部位で、両フランジ部13に隣接する部位に空間16内に向けてそれぞれ突出形成された一対の突部14を備え、該両突部14はピラーアウタ11の内壁面に沿って、且つ長手方向に沿ってそれぞれ形成されている。【選択図】図3
