To provide a crew member protection device which securely detects a protrusion of an object toward the outside of a vehicle from a window, and achieves protection of a crew member such as protection of pinching at a low cost.SOLUTION: The crew member protection device comprises a detection device to detect protrusion of an object toward the outside of the vehicle from a window 1 of a vehicle room, and a control device which controls operation of on-vehicle equipment that relates to protection of a crew member when the protrusion of the object toward the outside of the vehicle is detected. The detection device is a camera 11 set to the outside of the vehicle to monitor a side of the vehicle, and the camera 11 directly detects the presence of the object which protrudes toward the outside of the vehicle from the window 1. The control device regulates operation of a power window device when it is detected that the object protrudes toward the outside of the vehicle from the window 1. That the object such as a hand is pinched can be protected because the window 1 cannot be opened and closed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
【課題】ウィンドウから車外への物体のはみ出しを確実に検出して、挟み込み防止などの乗員の保護を安価に実現する。【解決手段】乗員保護装置は、車室のウィンドウ１から車外への物体のはみ出しを検出するための検出装置と、車外への物体のはみ出しが検出されたとき、乗員の保護に関連する車載機器の作動を制御する制御装置を備える。検出装置は、車両の側方を監視するために車外に設置されたカメラ１１とされ、カメラ１１はウィンドウ１から車外にはみ出た物体の有無を直接検出する。ウィンドウ１から車外に物体がはみ出していることが検出されると、制御装置は、パワーウィンドウ装置の作動を規制する。ウィンドウ１が開閉できなくなり、手などの物体が挟み込まれることを防止できる。【選択図】図２
