PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a driver to correctly grasp presented information without disturbing vision of a front scene by using an HUD device.SOLUTION: Characters or a figure representing information to be presented to a driver is displayed as a virtual image over a front scene by projecting the characters or figure on a transparent plate-like member before a driver's seat. At this time, the characters or figure is displayed to a larger display size as the characters or figure is displayed farther away from the center of a visual field viewed from the driver's seat as a reference point in a vertical or horizontal direction. Consequently, none of large characters or figure is displayed at a position close to the center of the visual field, so disturbance of driver's vision of a front scene due to a display of the characters or figure can be avoided. Further, the eyesight of the driver decreases at a position farther away from the center of the visual field, so the display size is made larger as the display position is farther away from the reference point, so that the driver can easily grasp the characters and figures.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

【課題】ＨＵＤ装置を用いて、前方の景色の視認を妨げることなく、提示した情報を運転者に正しく把握させることを可能にする。【解決手段】運転者に提示する情報を表す文字または図形を、運転席の前方の透明な板状部材に投影することで、前方の景色に重ねて文字または図形を虚像表示させる。その際に、運転席から見た視野の中心を基準点として、文字または図形の表示位置が基準点から上下方向あるいは左右方向に離れるほど、大きい表示寸法で文字または図形を表示させる。こうすれば、視野の中心に近接する位置に大きな文字や図形が表示されることがないので、文字や図形の表示で運転者が前方の景色を視認し難くなることを回避できる。また、視野の中心から離れた位置ほど運転者の視力は低くなることから、表示位置が基準点から離れるほど表示寸法を大きくすることで、文字や図形を運転者が把握し易くなる。【選択図】図５
