A vehicle charging cable 4 with multiple electroluminescent wires 1 twisted around the cable and protected with a transparent or semi-transparent coloured sheath 2. The input terminal of each electro-luminescent wire is connected to a power controller module which controls and illuminates the wire whenever power is applied. A variety of light emitting modes such as dynamic flashing or different coloured electroluminescent wires is also claimed. The illumination is intended to make the cable more visible when charging, to reduce a trip hazard in public places.
