A trailer braking system having a trailer brake module (TBM) for controlling brake pressure to the wheels, the TBM receiving signal from sensors on the trailer, and receiving a control pressure from a towing vehicle; the trailer braking system having a further second ECU also receiving signal from sensors and communicating with the TBM and the towing vehicle. The second ECU can control the input pressure (e.g. control pressure) to the TBM, or the output pressure from the TBM to the brakes. A pressure control valve PCV (fig 3) may reduce control pressure to the TBM and an anti-slip regulation valve ASR connected to the main supply may increase control pressure to the TBM. Alternatively, a single channel electropneumatic module 1C EPM (fig 4) connected to the main supply may modulate the control pressure. Alternatively, two separate ABS-relay valves ARV (fig 5-8) may control brake pressure independently to the left and right braking channels. Each braking channel may have a select high ASR valves (fig 7) and a 3/2 valve (fig 8). The second ECU may have independent power supply and communication to the towing vehicle to the TBM.
