The present invention includes an emergency egress system of a vehicle, including: a rope compartment (140), wherein the rope compartment (140) is located on or near a vertical plane along a longitudinal axis of the vehicle, within reach of one or more occupant seats (142); a rope (130), wherein at least a portion of the rope (130) is stored within the rope compartment (140) and is securely tethered to a portion of a structure of the vehicle; and a rope compartment cover (136) to secure the rope in the rope compartment (140).
