The invention provides a hatch cover travelling crane and a working method thereof. The hatch cover travelling crane comprises a crane frame. The hoisting mechanism is arranged at the end part of the crane frame; the lifting appliance is connected with the lifting mechanism and is used for lifting the hatch cover; the walking mechanism is arranged at the lower end of the crane frame and used for supporting the crane frame to walk; the guide frames are arranged at the specific height positions of the crane frame, when the crane frame is lifted to the specific height, the hatch cover can be limited on the inner side of the crane frame by the guide frames, and the hatch cover is prevented from shaking when moving along with the crane frame.
