The invention relates to a spoiler actuation system and method for an aircraft. The aircraft includes a wing, a spoiler, a spoiler movable between a cruising position and an upward position and between the cruising position and a drooping position, and a spoiler actuation system coupled to a hydraulic system of the aircraft, the spoiler actuation system includes a first piston and a second piston, a rack connected between the first piston and the second piston (the rack is movable between a first position and a second position), a pinion gear coupled to the rack (when the rack is movable between the first position and the second position), the pinion rotates between a third position and a fourth position), a first crank arm coupled to the pinion (the first crank arm rotates with the pinion between the third position and the fourth position), and a second crank arm coupled to the first crank arm and the spoiler (when the first crank arm rotates between the third position and the fourth position, the second crank arm rotates with the pinion between the third position and the fourth position). The second crank arm moves the spoiler between a cruising position and an upward position).
