The invention relates to an overspeed protection device for a stairlift. The overspeed protection device is composed of a speed limiter limiting block cooperating with an output shaft of a driving main machine and a speed limiter bracket; a speed limiter limiting block shifting lever is further arranged between the speed limiter limiting block and the speed limiter bracket; the speed limiter limiting block is in pin connection with a driving gear; a boss is arranged on one side of the speed limiter limiting block; a plurality of clamping grooves are formed between the periphery of the boss and the outer edge of the speed limiter limiting block; the speed limiter limiting block shifting lever cooperates with one end of a shifting lever fixing shaft; the other end of the shifting lever fixing shaft penetrates though the speed limiter bracket; a blocking column is further arranged on the side, opposite to the speed limiter limiting block, of the speed limiter bracket; and teeth are further arranged at the end part of the speed limiter bracket. The overspeed protection device is simple in structure; by adopting the overspeed protection device, emergency braking stopping can be realized when the stairlift slides down quickly and the seat elevator stops on an inclined track, so that the safety of people taking stairlift is improved greatly and the structure of the stairlift is protected from being damaged due to collision.
