The invention discloses an autopilot system based on an electric steering wheel. The autopilot system comprises a steering wheel actuator, a hydraulic steering gear, a hydraulic steering engine, a rudder angle feedback device, a heading sensor, an autopilot master control box and a motor controller. One end of the steering wheel actuator is mechanically connected with a steering wheel and the other end of the steering wheel actuator is mechanically connected with the hydraulic steering gear. The hydraulic steering gear is connected with a hydraulic station and the hydraulic steering engine via pipelines. The rudder angle feedback device is mechanically connected with the hydraulic steering engine. The heating sensor is mounted to a longitudinal line of a hull. The autopilot master control box is electrically connected with the heading sensor and the rudder angle feedback device. The motor controller is electrically connected with the autopilot master control box and the steering wheel actuator. The rudder angle feedback device is used for detecting an actual rudder angle and feeding the detected actual rudder angle to the autopilot master control box. The autopilot system based on the electric steering wheel has following beneficial effects: the autopilot system is characterized by being fine in controllability, easy in realization, high in reliability and great in applicability and can be applied to different ships.
