A method for manufacturing a bunk assembly for a transit vehicle is provided. The method includes forming an upper shell and forming a lower shell. The method further includes installing a frame between the upper shell and the lower shell and joining the upper shell and the lower shell together to form a support panel. The method further includes drilling a fill hole and a vent hole in the lower shell, the vent hole having a first diameter, and filling the support panel with foam via the fill hole and such that air contained within the support assembly is vented through the vent hole. The method further includes redrilling the vent hole to a second diameter to form a mount hole, the second diameter being greater than the first diameter, and mounting hardware to the support panel at the mounting hole.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un ensemble couchette pour un véhicule de transport collectif. Le procédé consiste à former une coque supérieure et à former une coque inférieure. Le procédé consiste en outre à installer un cadre entre la coque supérieure et la coque inférieure et à assembler la coque supérieure et la coque inférieure ensemble pour former un panneau de support. Le procédé consiste en outre à forer un trou de remplissage et un trou d'aération dans la coque inférieure, le trou d'aération présentant un premier diamètre, et à remplir le panneau de support de mousse par l'intermédiaire du trou de remplissage et de telle sorte que l'air contenu à l'intérieur de l'ensemble de support est évacué à travers le trou d'aération. Le procédé consiste en outre à reforer le trou d'aération à un second diamètre pour former un trou de montage, le second diamètre étant supérieur au premier diamètre, et à monter le matériel sur le panneau de support au niveau du trou de montage.
